The India vs Pakistan, World Championship Legends League Cricket 2024 final will be played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, England on Saturday, July 13.

Under the leadership of Yuvraj Singh, India Champions thrashed Australia Champions by 86 runs in their World Championship of Legends 2024 semi-final clash at County Ground in Northampton on Friday.

Put in to bat, India rode on blitzkrieg fifties from wicketkeeper-batter Robin Uthappa (65), captain Yuvraj Singh (59), Yusuf Pathan (51 not out) and Irfan Pathan (50) to post a mammoth score of 254/6 in their 20 overs.

Later, Dhawal Kulkarni and Pawan Negi bagged two wickets each to help India Champions restrict Australia Champions to 168/7 in their allotted overs to register a dominant victory in Northampton.

Earlier, India qualified for the WCL 2024 semi-finals after finishing fourth in the league standings with two wins and three losses.

On the other hand, Pakistan Champions defeated West Indies Champions by 20 runs in their WCL 2024 semi-final encounter at County Ground in Northampton to set-up a mouth-watering World Championship Legends League Cricket 2024 final.

Pakistan Champions captain Younis Khan led from the front with 65 off 45 balls along with contributions from wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal (46), Aamer Yamin (40) and Sohail Tanvir (33) to post 198/8 in their 20 overs.

Right-arm pacer Sohail Khan later scalped four wickets for just 21 runs in his 3.5 overs to help Pakistan Champions bowl out West Indies Champions for 178 in 19.5 overs.

With four victories and one defeat, the Younis Khan-led Pakistan earlier finished second in the WCL 2024 league standings to qualify for the semi-finals.

Pakistan Champions defeated India Champions by 68 runs in their previous meeting in the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2024 at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.

Fifties from Kamran Akmal (77), Sharjeel Khan (72) and Sohaib Maqsood (51) powered Pakistan Champions to a huge score of 243/4 in their 20 overs.

Chasing a mammoth total, the Yuvraj Singh-led India Champions could only manage 175/9 in their allotted overs.

India star cricketer Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest individual score in Asia Cup in the 50-over format.

Chasing a steep target of 330, Virat Kohli smashed 183 runs off just 148 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan during an Asia Cup group match at the 2012 edition.

Kohli’s scintillating knock powered India to a commanding six-wicket win in Mirpur, Bangladesh. His match-winning innings was laced with 22 fours and one six.

Earlier, centuries from openers Mohammad Hafeez (105) and Nasir Jamshed (112) helped Pakistan post 329/6 in their allotted 50 overs.

Kohli surpassed the previous record held by former Pakistan batter Younis Khan in the Asia Cup.

Batting at number four, Younis Khan played an impressive 144-run knock off just 122 balls against minnows Hong Kong during an Asia Cup match in Colombo in 2004. His innings included eight fours and three sixes.

Younis Khan’s ton powered Pakistan to 343/5 in their 50 overs. In reply, Hong Kong were bowled out for 165 in 44.1 overs.

Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim features third on the list for the highest individual score in the Asia Cup.

During an Asia Cup group match at the 2018 edition, Rahim scored 144 runs off 150 balls against Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Rahim’s knock was laced with 11 fours and four maximums.

Rahim’s magnificent hundred helped Bangladesh post 261 on the board. In response, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 124.

Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik and Virat Kohli complete the top five list for the highest individual score in 50-over Asia Cup matches. 

Shoaib Malik hammered a 127-ball 143 against rivals India during an Asia Cup match in Colombo in 2004. His brilliant ton helped Pakistan post 300/9 in their 50 overs. Chasing a daunting target, India could only manage 241/8 in their allotted 50 overs. 

In the 2014 edition of the Asia Cup, Kohli smashed 136 off just 122 balls against hosts Bangladesh to guide India to a six-wicket win in Fatullah. Kohli’s match-winning ton helped India chase down Bangladesh’s 279/9 in 49 overs.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong cricketer Babar Hayat holds the record for the highest individual score in the Asia Cup in the T20I format. 

Chasing 181, Babar Hayat hammered a 60-ball 122 against Oman during a qualifying Asia Cup match in Fatullah in 2016. The Hong Kong cricketer is currently the only other batter other than Virat Kohli to score a century in the T20I format of the Asia Cup.

Among Indians, Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest individual score in the Asia Cup (T20I format). The Indian swashbuckling batter scored a 61-ball 122 not out against Afghanistan in Dubai in 2022.

For the unversed, the Asia Cup has been played in the T20I format only once previously in 2016. The 2022 edition will just be the second time that the Asia Cup will be played in the 20-over format.

Former India batter Sachin Tendulkar has recorded the most centuries in Test cricket. Regarded as one of the greatest batters in cricket history, Tendulkar smashed 51 hundreds in the longest format of the game. 

Having made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1989, the right-hander amassed 15,921 runs in 200 Test matches at an impressive average of 53.78 with 68 fifties to his name. It is still the all-time highest runs scored in Test cricket.

The Maharashtra-born cricketer also holds the record for the highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket. 

The second on the list for most centuries in Test cricket features former South Africa cricketer Jacques Kallis. The former all-rounder hit 45 hundreds in his Test career. Between 1995 and 2013, Kallis aggregated 13289 runs in 166 Tests at an average of 55.37.

Former Australia cricket team captain Ricky Ponting is third on the list for most centuries in Test cricket. Ponting smashed 21 tons in the longest format. Having batted mostly at number three, the right-handed batter accumulated 13378 runs in 168 Tests at an average of 51.85. 

Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and India’s Rahul Dravid complete the top five list for most centuries in Test cricket. The ex-Sri Lanka skipper registered 38 Test tons while Dravid hit 36 hundreds in his Test career.

While Sangakkara amassed 12400 runs in 134 Test matches at an average of 57.40, Dravid ended his Test career with 13288 runs in 164 games at an average of 52.31.

Steve Smith and Virat Kohli have scored the most centuries in Test cricket among active cricketers, smashing 27 hundreds each.

Bringing a knife to a gunfight is one thing but brandishing one during a difference of batting opinion is quite another. That's what former Pakistan batting coach found out over breakfast one morning in Brisbane when Pakistan's Younis Khan held a knife to his throat.

“Younis Khan�?quite tough to master,�?Flower told Following on Cricket Podcast. “Obviously, a brilliant career. I remember one incident in Brisbane, during the Test, at breakfast, I tried to give him a bit of batting advice, not that my career was anywhere near his regarding stats, as he is the highest scorer in Pakistan Test cricket.

“But he didn’t take kindly to my advice and brought a knife to my throat, with Mickey Arthur sitting alongside, who had to intervene. Yeah, it’s been interesting. But that’s part of coaching. It makes it a hell of a journey, and I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I’m very fortunate to be in the position I am.�?/p>

Younis Khan went on to score a first-innings golden duck in Brisbane and 65 in the second, ending the tour in Sydney with 175*.

Grant Flower, who was brought on as the Pakistan batting coach in 2014, was let go from his role last year after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided not to renew the ex-Zimbabwe player's contract.

However, given the opener's prior comments to ESPNCricinfo about the 'backstabbing players' and politics with the PCB, it will likely not be an environment he will miss too much.

Following his layoff, Flower went south of the subcontinent to Sri Lanka where he is now part of their coaching staff while Younis Khan was appointed Pakistan's new batting coach.

Pakistan batting coach and former cricketing great Younis Khan singled out fast-rising paceman Jofra Archer as a "major threat" in his team's forthcoming matches against England. 

The Pakistan squad left on Sunday for England, where they will play three Tests and as many Twenty20 internationals, starting in the first week of August.

Younis said 25-year-old Archer has made a reputation for himself since qualifying to play for England and going on to play a key role in last year's Ashes and triumphant World Cup campaign.

"He (Archer) is a real match-winner and a threat," Younis told AFP before the team's departure.

"Archer has strong nerves which he proved while bowling a crucial super over in the World Cup final," said Younis of England's nail-biting win over New Zealand at Lord's last year. 

"He has bite in his bowling and his high arm action is very good and gives him nip in his bowling," he added.

But Younis -- himself playing a key role in Pakistan's 2-2 series draw in England in 2016 with a double hundred in the last Test at The Oval -- said Barbados-born Archer can be countered. 

"There is hype around him so that can be an added pressure on him. I have told the batsmen to play close to the body and play on the back foot because his in-swinger can be very dangerous."

Younis remembered playing Archer in Pakistan's practice game against Sussex in 2016.

"I remember playing him in the side game," said Younis of Archer's debut first-class match.  "He got five wickets in the match but was not on top of his bowling at the time like he is now."

Pakistan's highest Test run-scorer with 10,099, Younis said Pakistan should also be cautious of England's most experienced bowlers -- James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

"Anderson and Broad have a wealth of experience. They are always a great pair. Whenever England have won they have the major share, but in August, the weather will be dry and not very overcast so they can be handled properly."

Pakistan need to score 300-350 in the first innings, in order to challenge England in bowling, the coach said.

The squad has a new pace battery with lanky Shaheen Shah Afridi as spearhead supported by 17-year-old Naseem Shah and Mohammad Abbas, who also played a key role in the 2018 tour.

"You face challenges in England as your technique as well as nerves are put to test. I am sure our team will be up to that task," said Younis.

England on Tuesday as international cricket slowly returns after the shutdown due to the global pandemic.

Younis, 42, is Pakistan's highest run-scorer in Tests with 10,099 runs in 118 matches in a career that stretched from 2000 to 2017.

Pakistan will also have the services of former spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as spin bowling coach to assist head coach Misbah-ul-Haq during the tour, where they are set to play three Tests and an equal number of Twenty20 internationals.

The national squad will likely kick off training in Lahore before departing for England in early July where they will be held in quarantine for two weeks.

Pakistan are set to play the first of three Tests in Manchester from August 5 while the remaining two Tests will be in Southampton (August 13-17 and 21-25).

The three Twenty20 internationals will all be played in Southampton on August 28, 30 and September 1.

International cricket, halted like other sports because of the pandemic, is finally coming back to life with the West Indies arriving in England on Tuesday for a rescheduled, three-Test tour.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the two appointments were made to help Misbah and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

"The appointments have been made to provide head coach Misbah and fast bowling coach Waqar the necessary and essential resources that can help them further uplift the performance of the side," said the PCB in a statement.

Pakistan are currently seventh in the Test rankings but they have enjoyed strong tours in England in recent years, drawing 2-2 in 2016 and 1-1 in 2018.

"I am delighted that Younis has agreed to join the Pakistan cricket set-up and his work ethic, commitment to match preparation, game awareness and tactics in the English conditions will be invaluable," said PCB chief executive Wasim Khan.

Younis said he plans to draw on his experience to help shepherd the team during the tour.

"We all know English conditions demand not only precise technique but patience and discipline, and if you can master these, then you will not only excel in England but anywhere in the world," said Younis.

The Pakistan Cricket Board's plan of having one of their greats Younis Khan as a coach of their U-19 side hit a major roadblock after the former predicted a high remuneration along with an input in the selection matters.

According to Cricbuzz, the two parties failed to chalk an agreement that would have seen PCB model their youth set up on the lines of India that has Rahul Dravid coach India 'A', to nurture the country's young talent.

The Pakistan Under-19 team has been inconsistent of late. They failed to qualify for the semifinal of the Asia Cup last year, losing to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and winning only against Hong Kong. Though they beat Ireland and Sri Lanka in group-stages And South Africa in the quarter-final, their 2018 World Cup journey had begun with a loss to Afghanistan in the tournament opener and was ended with another in the semi-final to India, the tournament winners.

It was also reported that due to his strained relationship with the board in his playing days, some routine refused to deal with Younis which prompted Ehsan Mani, the PCB chairman, to ask Wasim Khan, the PCB's managing director, to negotiate with the former Pakistan Captain.

Ehsan Mani, the PCB chairman, had previously also involved the likes of Misbah ul Haq and Wasim Akram to have inputs on various cricketing matters.
