Bayern Munich will have their task cut out when they welcome Manchester City to the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their 2022-23 Champions League quarter-final. The match will start at 12:30 AM IST.

The Bavarians trail 0-3 on aggregate after they were brushed aside by a clinical City outfit. Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland were all on the scoresheet for the Engish club in the first leg.

BAY vs MCI Dream11 prediction for Champions League 2022-23

Bayern Munich will be underdogs as they trail 0-3 against a City side that isn’t known for throwing away leads. Bayern, in fact, hasn’t been in great form ever since Thomas Tuchel took over as their new head coach. Under his tutelage, Bayern has won twice, lost twice and drawn once, including a DFB Pokal exit.

City, on the other hand, are in imperious form having won their last 10 matches across all competitions. Bayern needs a miracle to go through to the next round by overturning a 0-3 deficit. Going by form and quality of the teams, City is firm favourites to win this game and qualify for the next round.

BAY vs MCI Dream11 team tips for Champions League 2022-23

Top tip: Best forward - Erling Haaland

Having Erling Haaland on your fantasy football team is a no-brainer. The most lethal striker in Europe with a whopping 47 goals from 40 games in all competitions, Haaland was on target against Bayern last time around and bagged a brace over the weekend in the Premier League. While he’s not much of a differentiator, having him in your fantasy team almost guarantees points. He’s also provided six assists this season, which shows he can contribute in attack in more ways than one.

Top tip: Best midfielder - Ilkay Gundogan

The engine at the heart of City’s defence, while Ilkay Gundogan may not always get the plaudits reserved for the likes of Bernardo Silva or Kevin de Bruyne, his importance to this City side cannot be underestimated. A contributor both in attack and defence, Gundogan will relish coming up against Bayern in his native Germany. The German international has bagged five goals and just as many assists this season, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he manages to be on the scoresheet against City. After all, he’s proven time and again in the past that he’s the man for the big occasions.

Top tip: Best defender - Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo, who is on loan from Man City at Bayern, will be eager to make a positive impression against his parent club. He came on as a substitute in the first leg and didn’t have much of a say in the action. However, with Bayern chasing the match, Cancelo is likely to start thanks to his attacking prowess. He’s got three goals and nine assists over the course of the season while representing both Bayern and City. Expect Cancelo to be at his explosive best against City.

Top tip: Best goalkeeper - Yann Sommer

Yann Sommer can expect another busy night between the post after letting in three goals against City in the first leg. A reliable and consistent goalkeeper, Sommer joined Munich from Borussia Monchengladbach in the January transfer market and has kept his fair share of clean sheets for the Bavarians, making some great saves along the way. He will once again be under the pump against City, meaning the more saves he makes the more fantasy points you earn with him in your team.

Liverpool (LIV) will host reigning champions Manchester City (MCI) in Matchday 11 of the Premier League 2022-23 at the Anfield on Sunday, October 16. The match will kick off at 9:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).

LIV vs MCI Dream11 prediction

Under the tutelage of manager Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool will head into the Manchester City fixture high on confidence after thrashing Scottish Premiership side Rangers 7-1 in their Group A match of the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 on Wednesday.

Star forward Mohamed Salah netted a six-minute hat-trick while Roberto Firmino bagged a brace to help the Reds secure a morale-boosting win ahead of their marquee Premier League encounter. New summer signing Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott also scored a goal each for Liverpool.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered a 2-3 defeat against league leaders Arsenal in their previous Premier League fixture last Sunday. Having registered just two wins in their eight Premier League matches this season, Liverpool are currently placed 11th in the standings with 10 points.

On the other hand, Manchester City are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League this season, having recorded seven wins and two draws so far. With 23 points from nine matches, the Citizens are placed second in the Premier League 2022-23 standings, one point behind table-toppers Arsenal.

Furthermore, City have won two of their last five matches against Liverpool in the Premier League while the other three matches have ended in draws.

Overall, Liverpool have a superior head-to-head record against City in the Premier League, winning 21 of the 52 matches that they have played so far. City have secured 11 victories while 20 matches have ended in stalemates.

Going by recent form and head-to-head record, MCI will start as slight favourites against inconsistent LIV at Anfield on Sunday.

LIV vs MCI Dream11 team tips for Premier League 2022-23

Top tip: Best forward

Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland will be the overwhelming choice. The 22-year-old has made a scintillating start to his Premier League career, netting a staggering 15 goals in nine appearances including three consecutive hat-tricks. Having accumulated 873 fantasy points, Haaland is a must-have fantasy pick at 9 credits.

Top tip: Best midfielder

Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the standout players for Manchester City in the Premier League this season so far. The Belgian midfielder has provided as many as nine assists in PL 2022-23, with his teammate Bernardo Silva and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka on the joint-second spot with four assists each. Kevin De Bruyne has already accrued 474 points and will be a great fantasy pick at 9 credits.

Top tip: Best defender and goalkeeper

Selected by 96.47 per cent of fantasy users, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo will be the preferred choice. The 28-year-old full-back has played a crucial role for City both in defence as well as in their attacking play. Joao Cancelo has already amassed 529 fantasy points and will be a smart pick at just 8 credits.

For the goalkeeper spot, Manchester City’s Ederson pips his compatriot Alisson Becker of Liverpool. Ederson has already kept five clean sheets so far as compared to Alisson’s two clean sheets in the ongoing Premier League. The City goalkeeper is expected to play an important role to stop the likes of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota from scoring.

LIV vs MCI probable playing XI

Liverpool playing XI (probable): Alisson Becker (goalkeeper); Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago Alcântara; Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota

Manchester City playing XI (probable): Ederson (goalkeeper); João Cancelo, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake; Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne; Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish

Premier League football returns after a brief international break as Leicester City and Chelsea open the proceedings for Matchday 12 at King Power Stadium on Saturday, November 20. The highlight of Matchday 12, however, remains Arsenal’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on the same day.

Arsenal, currently fifth in the Premier League 2021-22 standings, will look to make the most of the fixture as a win will take them to the top four. Manchester United, on the other hand, have a relatively easy fixture as they face Watford away from home.

Meanwhile, there are only two matches on Sunday with Manchester City hosting Everton and Leeds United travelling to London to take on Tottenham Hotspur.

With so much of action to look forward to, here are our top picks for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 12:

Fantasy Premier League: Gamweek 12 tips to make your team

Best attacker: Cristiano Ronaldo

Among the top six clubs, Manchester United has the easiest outing. Despite their recent struggles, they are highly likely to come out on top on Saturday. Watford, who have won just one of their last five matches, are set to face an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored three goals and assisted once in his last three matches for the Red Devils. Given how stacked the fixtures are this matchweek, Ronaldo remains the most viable option of all.

Best defender: Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo has provided a whopping four assists in his last two matches for Manchester City, including one in the Manchester derby and three against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League. His current form has made him the third most transferred-in player for the matchweek. Considering how substandard Everton have been on the road, Cancelo is a top defender to have in your team this week.

Budget player: Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher’s current form has made the Crystal Palace midfielder the most transferred-in player this week. The 21-year-old Chelsea loanee has scored two goals in his last two matches and is currently the second highest-scoring midfielder after Mohamed Salah in the Fantasy Premier League with 62 points. At just £5.8m, Gallagher is a steal.

Fantasy Premier League stats for Gameweek 12 fixtures

Leicester City vs Chelsea

Leicester City are unbeaten against Chelsea in their last three home matches (W1, D2).

Chelsea are averaging two goals in their away league matches this season, having scored eight in four matches.

Romelu Lukaku has scored five goals in eight Premier League matches against teams managed by Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Mohamed Salah has scored four goals and provided two assists in four matches at Anfield against Arsenal.

Arsenal have kept six clean sheets in their last nine Premier League away matches.

Among any side in the Premier League, Arsenal are currently on the longest unbeaten run (W6, D2).

Manchester City vs Everton

Manchester City have scored 21 goals while conceding just five in their last seven Premier League matches against Everton. City have won all of those seven games.

Gabriel Jesus has scored eight goals in eight Premier League outings against Everton.

Everton are without a win in their last five Premier League matches (D2, L3).

Manchester City have dominated the domestic football scene in England for the past two campaigns, but have been found wanting this season. Pep Guardiola’s side have fallen well behind Liverpool in the title race, leaving much work to do for the Cityzens ahead of the next campaign.

There is expected to be major activity at the Etihad once the transfer window opens. With that in mind, we take a look at the current Manchester City squad and assess who might stay at the club beyond the summer and who might not.

Goalkeepers

Ederson

Ederson has grown into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. The Brazilian is a pivotal player in Guardiola’s side.

Verdict: Stays.

Claudio Bravo

The Chilean has never been able to nail down a spot at Manchester City since joining from Barcelona. At 37 years of age and his contract nearing expiry, Claudio Bravo’s time at the club is nearing an end. Arijanet Muric, who is currently out on loan, should become the second-choice goalkeeper.

Verdict: Leaves.

Scott Carson

Signed as the third-choice goalkeeper on loan from Derby County in the summer, Scott Carson hasn’t played a single game for City. Yet, with his contract at Derby expiring, Guardiola could opt to keep hold of the 34-year-old for another season.

Verdict: Stays.

Defence

Aymeric Laporte

A pivotal member of Guardiola’s side, his injury-enforced absence has been a major blow for City this season. There has been some interest from Barcelona to secure his signing in the summer. However, City wouldn’t want to start their title challenge next season by losing their best defender.

Verdict: Stays. Without a doubt.

John Stones

Regarded as one of the best in England only a few years ago, John Stones?fall from grace has been rather swift. Injury issues and a loss of confidence has resulted in a drastic reduction of his game time this season.

There are several Premier League clubs interested in signing him and Guardiola himself is eyeing defensive additions. But given Stones?age and the early form that he had shown at the club, Pep might fancy giving him another opportunity rather than severely depleting his options at the back.

Verdict: Stays.

Nicolas Otamendi

The erroneous 32-year-old has been preferred over John Stones at times this season and is contracted with the club till 2022. But with Guardiola looking to sign new defenders, it could be Otamendi whose name ends up on the chopping block given his age.

Verdict: Leaves.

Eric Garcia

The 19-year-old has been used sparingly by Guardiola this season, but every time he has been given an opportunity, Garcia has done reasonably well. While he would have stood to benefit by a loan spell away from the Etihad, the youngster is likely to stay at the club and continue his integration into the first-team.

Verdict: Stays.

Read | Premier League 2019/20: Three players who exceeded expectations

Benjamin Mendy

Signed amid much fanfare in 2017, Benjamin Mendy’s career at Manchester City has been blighted by injuries, one after the other. Nevertheless, when fit, the Frenchman is a great asset and has a future at the club.

Verdict: Stays.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

The versatile Ukrainian hasn’t been at his best this season. But his adaptability offers great value to this Manchester City side. Having signed a long-term contract less than a year ago, he is going nowhere.

Verdict: Stays.

Kyle Walker

Another full-back who penned a long-term contract in June last year, Walker is a guaranteed starter week in week out for Guaridola.

Verdict: Stays.

Joao Cancelo

Signed last summer from Juventus, it has been far from smooth sailing for Cancelo at Manchester City. The Portuguese hasn’t been able to displace Walker from the starting XI and hasn’t been used regularly by the manager.

This has led to speculations over his future, with City reportedly considering a swap with Barcelona for Nelson Semedo. Despite the rumours, Cancelo is someone who fits into Guardiola’s philosophy and the manager himself has claimed that the full-back is a long-term addition for the club.

Verdict: Stays.

Midfielders

Rodri

The club record signing has stepped into the defensive midfield role and performed admirably in his debut season.

Verdict: Stays.

Fernandinho

At 34, Fernandinho doesn’t have a lot of football at the top level left in him but the Brazilian has reinvented himself as a centre-back this season and has been a key player for Guardiola. Moreover, the veteran signed a new one-year contract in January earlier this year.

Verdict: Stays.

Ilkay Gundogan

The German midfielder has thrived in the past couple of seasons under Guardiola, putting behind all injury issues that bothered him early on and signed a new contract till 2023 in August 2019.

Verdict: Stays.

David Silva

The man who carried the creative mantle for Manchester City for the entire decade, David Silva is out of contract at the end of the season and has made it clear he wishes to return to Spain. Premier League will bid goodbye to a legend.

Verdict: Leaves.

Read | Premier League team of the season so far

Kevin De Bruyne

The best midfielder in the Premier League without a doubt, De Bruyne has been the chief driving force behind Manchester City’s success under Guardiola. The potential lack of Champions League football for the next season due to the FIFA-imposed ban could prompt other big clubs to make a move. But a transfer at this juncture is extremely unlikely.

Verdict: Stays.

Phil Foden

The man earmarked to replace David Silva in the first-team by Guardiola, Foden showed his class in City’s Carabao Cup triumph against Aston Villa in February. Expect more of the same next season.

Verdict: Stays.

Attackers

Raheem Sterling

One of the biggest beneficiaries of Guardiola’s mentoring, Sterling has turned into a world-class attacker under the Catalan coach’s tutelage. An indispensable member of this Manchester City side.

Verdict: Stays.

Leroy Sane

The German has hardly played this season due to injury, but is seen as a key member of the team by Guardiola.

However, Bayern Munich have made no secret of their interest in the winger, which could turn his head. Moreover, with his contract expiring next year, City might deem it best to offload Leroy Sane and reinvest in the summer.

Verdict: Leaves.

Bernardo Silva

The Portuguese’s form has experienced a slight dip in comparison to last season but his ability on the ball and the versatility he offers makes him a vital player for Manchester City. Bernardo Silva signed a long-term contract only last year.

Verdict: Stays.

Riyad Mahrez

After a rather dull debut season, Algerian Riyad Mahrez has stepped it up a notch this season and grown into a key player for the Cityzens.

Verdict: Stays.

Sergio Aguero

At 31, Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer is still going strong. He has just one year left on his current contract but an exit at this stage is extremely unlikely. However, it is time for Man City to put in place a long-term succession plan for Aguero.

Verdict: Stays.

Gabriel Jesus

Having shown signs of potential for a number of years now, Gabriel Jesus has added the element of consistency to his game this season. He seems ready to carry the mantle of the club’s premier centre-forward if and when Aguero decides it is time to move on.

Verdict: Stays.

The 2019/20 Premier League season is off to a flyer with big names like Sergio Aguero and Sadio Mane stepping up their game once again for their respective teams. However, the English clubs opened their coffers generously to secure the services of some of the promising up-and-comers in European football.

Here we look at the top signings in the summer transfer window that are tipped to surpass the expectations of their managers and fans alike.

Harry Maguire (Leicester City to Manchester United)

Once a solid figure in Leicester City’s back line, Harry Maguire decided to leave the shores of the Foxes to make his dream move to Manchester United. The 26-year-old English centre-back's signing was of utmost importance for the Red Devils. With a hefty build and a phenomenal track record of being fit and less injury-prone, Maguire can surely take up the charge of the defensive duties at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is getting a player who is good in the air, capable of helping the team from set pieces, can retrieve balls and has satisfactory long passing skills. This clearly shows why the folks at Old Trafford shelled out a whopping £80 million to procure him.

Nicolas Pepe (Lille to Arsenal)

Nicolas Pepe’s record at Lille in Ligue1 was nothing short of spectacular. He netted 22 goals and provided 11 assists in his previous season in France. Arsenal was convinced that Pepe is surely their guy and to leave him hanging for any other club would be a grave mistake. Instead they decided to capitalise on his form and secured his services for £72 million.

The talented 24-year-old forward should settle into the Gunners' setup without much hassle, especially with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette present to help him out.

Rodrigo (Atletico Madrid to Manchester City)

Manchester City seemed to have found an ideal replacement for Fernandinho in the 23-year-old Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez. An efficient stalwart in stopping counter-attacks and passing the ball with purpose, the Citizens will be delighted to have a young gun dictating the play from the midfield.

His impressive performance against Liverpool in the Community Shield was noted by manager Pep Guardiola. He clearly fits into the vision of Guardiola’s style of play and will be a regular player on the pitch. City shelled out £60 million for the Spaniard.

Joao Cancelo (Juventus to Manchester City)

Manchester City opted to go for Joao Cancelo as a backup for the right-back position currently occupied by Kyle Walker. At Juventus, Cancelo’s role as a right-back was to push up often, playing as a right winger at times. His work rate was the key factor that impressed Guardiola as he demands from his players a high possession and even higher tempo when on the ball.

The Portuguese right-back ticked all the boxes and was brought to the Etihad for a deal that cost Citizens £60 million, with Danilo moving to Juventus as a part of the deal.

Tanguy Ndombele (Lyon to Tottenham Hotspur)

The 23-year-old Frenchman unarguably ranks among the top five central midfielders in European football at present. Due to his inherent versatility to tackle the attacking prowess of top-class teams, Tottenham Hotspur offered Lyon £65 million to get him to North London.

He will be useful in strengthening the defence system of Spurs and will be highly effective in encounters where Mauricio Pochettino need an X-factor to overcome strong oppositions. Tanguy Ndombele will be a pivotal part of Spurs campaign this season.
