The Mohun Bagan vs Bengaluru FC, Durand Cup 2024 semi-final will start at 5:30 PM IST.

The Mariners later pipped Punjab FC 6-5 on penalties to book their place in the last four of the 133rd Durand Cup.

Earlier, Mohun Bagan finished at the top of the Durand Cup 2024 Group A standings with seven points from three games.

While José Francisco Molina’s men defeated Downtown Heroes 1-0 in their Durand Cup 2024  opener, they hammered Indian Air Force 6-0 in their second group match.

Meanwhile, their clash against arch-rivals East Bengal was cancelled due to security issues. Mohun Bagan and East Bengal were awarded one point each after the Kolkata derby was abandoned.

On the other hand, Bengaluru FC secured a last-second victory over Kerala Blasters to advance to the Durand Cup 2024 semi-finals at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Friday.

Bengaluru FC rode on a late injury-time goal by Argentine footballer Jorge Pereyra Díaz to set-up a mouth-watering clash against Mohun Bagan.

Led by head coach Gerard Zaragoza, the Blues earlier advanced to the Durand Cup 2024 quarter-finals after finishing as table-toppers in Group B with nine points from three games.

Bengaluru FC started their Durand Cup 2024 campaign with a 4-0 win over Indian Navy and later defeated Inter Kashi 3-0. They ended the group stage with a nail-biting 3-2 win against Mohammedan SC.

Since the inception of the Indian Super League (ISL) in 2014, there have been six ISL winners who have claimed the coveted title at least once.

In the previous editions, erstwhile ATK have been the most dominant team, having secured the title three times. Hyderabad FCChennaiyin FC, Bengaluru FC, Mumbai City  FC, and ATK Mohun Bagan are the other sides, which complete the ISL winners list.

Here are the ISL winners from every edition of Indian Super League:

ISL 2014 winner ?Atletico de Kolkata

In the inaugural season, ATK, formerly known as Atlético de Kolkata, were crowned the ISL season 1 winner as they defeated Kerala Blasters 1-0 in the final, courtesy an injury-time goal by Indian midfielder Mohammed Rafique.

Under head coach Antonio Lopez Habas and marquee player Luis Garcia, ATK had finished third in the ISL table at the end of the league stages, four points behind table-toppers Chennaiyin FC.

The 2014 season featured eight teams, each playing 14 matches during the regular season.

ISL 2015 winner ?Chennaiyin FC

After suffering heartbreak in the 2014 ISL semi-finals, Chennaiyin FC defeated FC Goa 3-2 in a mouth-watering 2015 ISL final at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa.

Chennaiyin FC had claimed the title with the help from their talisman Stiven Mendoza, who won the 'Hero of the League' award as well as the ISL Golden Boot, having scored 13 goals that season.

Interestingly, during the early stage of 2015 ISL season, Chennaiyin were placed last in the league table. The ?/span>Marina Machans?then won four consecutive games to qualify for the play-offs, finishing third in the point table.

ISL 2016 winner ?Atletico de Kolkata

In the 2016 edition of the Indian Super League, ATK secured the title for the second time after defeating Kerala Blasters in a nail-biting penalty shootout at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Kerala.

With more than 80,000 fans in the stadium, Blasters took the lead in the 37th minute through Mohammed Rafi. However, just after seven minutes, Henrique Sereno equalised for ATK. With the score still at 1? after extra-time, the match eventually went into a penalty shootout.

ATK won the shoot-out 4? and became two-time champions courtesy some brilliant saves from their keeper Debjit Majumder.

ISL 2017-18 winner ?Chennaiyin FC

This was the year when All India Football Federation handed ISL the top-tier tag from Asian Football Confederation (AFC), replacing I-League

ISL expanded with the inclusion of Bengaluru FC and Jamshedpur FC, with a play-off slot to play for in the AFC Cup.

Under head coach John Gregory, Chennaiyin FC defeated Bengaluru FC 3-2 to claim their second ISL title at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

Earlier in the league stages, Bengaluru FC had accumulated 40 points from their 18 games to finish eight points clear of Chennaiyin, who had finished second in the points table. Goa and Pune City were the other two teams who qualified for the 2017-18 ISL play-offs.

ISL 2018-19 winner ?Bengaluru FC

In the 2018-19 edition of the tournament, Sunil Chhetri-led Bengaluru FC were hot favourites to be crowned the ISL season 5 winner.

As it turned out, Bengaluru FC secured their maiden title by defeating FC Goa 1? in the final at Mumbai Football Arena. Bengaluru FC’s Rahul Bheke scored the winner from a corner in the 117th minute.

As in the earlier edition of the tournament, Bengaluru had topped the ISL league stages in 2018-19 season.

In the semi-finals, while Bengaluru defeated NorthEast United 4-2 in two legs, Goa thrashed Mumbai City 5-2.

ISL 2019-20 winner ?Atletico de Kolkata

Having experienced two disappointing seasons, ATK re-appointed Antonio Lopez Habas as their head coach for the 2019-20 ISL season.

The decision turned out to be successful as ATK became the first club to win the ISL thrice after they defeated Chennaiyin FC 3-1 in the 2019-20 ISL final.

In the finals, ATK goal-keeper Arindam Bhattacharya showed his class to help the white and red brigade clinch the coveted title.

For the champions, Roy Krishna and David Williams were the stand-out performers throughout the tournament.

ISL 2020-21 winner ?Mumbai City FC

Ahead of the seventh edition of the Indian Super League, FC Goa’s former head coach Sergio Lobera was handed the reins of Mumbai City FC to change the fortunes of the club. As it turned out, it was a masterstroke as Mumbai City FC won their maiden ISL title by defeating ATK Mohun Bagan 2-1 at the Fatorda Stadium.

The Islanders are only the second team, after Bengaluru FC in 2018-19, to finish on top of the league and win the final in the same season. Mumbai, thus, completed a rare double of winning the ISL title after clinching the League Winners Shield and securing a place in the 2022 AFC Champions League.

ISL 2021-22 winner ?Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad FC defeated Kerala Blasters FC 3-1 in the penalty shootout to clinch their maiden Indian Super League title at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa.

Under the tutelage of Manolo Márquez, Hyderabad had earlier finished second in the league phase with 38 points from 20 matches, five points behind table-toppers Jamshedpur FC. The Nizams later beat ATK Mohun Bagan 3-2 on aggregate in the ISL 2021-22 semi-finals to book their place in the final.

For Hyderabad FC, striker Bartholomew Ogbeche was the standout performer as he bagged the Golden Boot award by netting 18 goals in 20 matches.

ISL 2022-23 winner ?ATK Mohun Bagan

After finishing third in the league stage, ATK Mohun Bagan overcame Hyderabad FC via penalties over the two-legged semi-finals

They got the better of Bengaluru FC via penalties in the final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. Two goals from Dimitri Petratos - their top goal-scorer for the campaign- in the final against the Blues meant that the game ended at 2-2 at fulltime and eventually led to a penalty shootout, which the Mariners won 4-3.

ISL 2023-24 winner ?Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City FC clinched their second ISL title after beating Mohun Bagan Super Giant 3-1 in the 2023-24 final at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

Jason Cummings scored the opening goal of the match in the 44th minute to put Mohun Bagan ahead. However, goals from Jorge Pereyra Díaz, Bipin Singh Thounaojam and Jakub Vojtuš in the second half helped Mumbai City register a comprehensive win in the end.

The Kalinga Super Cup is the premier cup competition in men's domestic football in India.

Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the Indian Super Cup has been held annually since it succeeded the Federation Cup in 2018. The Federation Cup was India's main knockout football tournament.

Earlier known as the AIFF Super Cup, the tournament is now open to all clubs in the Indian Super League and the I-League, the top two divisions of the Indian football league system respectively.

Bengaluru FC won the first edition of the Super Cup after defeating East Bengal 4-1 in the 2018 final at the Kalinga Stadium.

The Blues?skipper and Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri is the top-scorer in the competition’s history having found the back of the net nine times.

FC Goa won the second edition of the tournament after overcoming Chennaiyin FC in 2019.

Both the 2018 and 2019 editions were a 16-team knockout tournament.

Meanwhile, the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Indian football team’s fixtures from 2020 to 2022.

Since 2023, the Kalinga Super Cup features 16 clubs in the group stage.

All ISL clubs qualify directly for the group stage while I-League clubs play qualifiers for the four remaining spots.

The 16 teams in the main draw are divided into four groups of four teams each. Each team plays the other sides in their group once.

At the completion of the group stage, the team with the most points advance to the semi-finals as per the current format.

In the knockouts, extra time is played if the match ends in a draw after a full 90 minutes, followed by a penalty shoot-out if required.

The winner of the Kalinga Super Cup secures a spot in the AFC Champions League 2.

East Bengal are the defending champions of the Kalinga Super Cup after defeating Odisha FC 3-2 at the Kalinga Stadium in the 2024 final. Get the full Kalinga Super Cup winners list.

Led by head coach Ivan Vukomanović, Kerala Blasters will aim to bounce back after going down to Bengaluru FC in inexplicable circumstances in the ISL knockout playoffs last season.

The likes of Sahal Abdul Samad, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, Jessel Carneiro, and Harmanjot Singh Khabra have left KBFC.

Sandesh Jhingan, Roy Krishna, Udanta Singh and Prabir Das have departed BFC.

Odisha FC (OFC) will host Bengaluru FC (BFC) at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on October 27 to kickstart matchweek four of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM IST.

The Kalinga Warriors began their campaign with an entertaining 3-2 win over Jamshedpur where they scored two goals towards the end of the game to ensure a winning start to their season.

However, they lost to Mumbai 2-0 in the following clash but won the previous match 2-1 against Kerala Blasters. Hence, Odisha will be looking for another win to garner some consistency as the league table starts to take shape.

On the other hand, Bengaluru have also made an inconsistent start to their ISL 2022-23 campaign.

BFC won their opening game against Northeast United 1-0 thanks to an 86-minute goal by defender Alan Costa. Nonetheless, they are winless in the last two games, drawing 1-1 and losing 1-0 against Chennaiyin and Hyderabad, respectively.

Scoring goals has been a major concern for the Simon Grayson-coached side, as they have found the back of the net only twice this season - the second lowest among the participating teams after bottom-placed Northeast United.

The two teams currently occupy the third and the fifth positions in the ISL 2022-23 points table. Odisha sit third, level on points with second-placed FC Goa, whereas Bengaluru are fifth with four points from three games.

Odisha FC vs Bengaluru FC head-to-head in Indian Super League

The two teams have faced each other on 10 occasions in ISL history. BFC have won six matches while OFC emerged victorious three times.

Only one game has ended in a stalemate, a 1-1 draw in ISL 2020-21 season, where Odisha’s Diego Mauricio and Bengaluru’s Australian midfielder Erik Paartalu scored in a tightly-contested game.

In addition to the ISL, the two sides have squared off once in the Durand Cup earlier this year, with Bengaluru winning the knockout match 2-1 in extra time.

With the head-to-head statistics favouring Bengaluru, one can expect the Blues to win this encounter as well.

Earlier, Mumbai City defeated Indian Super League (ISL) rivals Chennaiyin FC 5-3 to advance to the semi-finals of Asia’s oldest football tournament. New summer signing and former Jamshedpur forward Greg Stewart netted a stunning hat-trick while India international Lallianzuala Chhangte scored a brace to help Mumbai City clinch a thrilling win in their quarter-final encounter.

On the other hand, Bengaluru FC advanced to their first Durand Cup final after they edged reigning ISL champions Hyderabad FC 1-0 in the second semi-final at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday.

The Blues opened the scoring courtesy of an unfortunate deflection into the back of the net by Hyderabad FC defender Odei Onaindia in the 30th minute of the game.

Bengaluru FC finished second in the Group A standings with eight points from four matches before overcoming a 10-man Odisha FC in their quarter-final tie.

Led by new manager Simon Grayson, the Sunil Chhetri-led Bengaluru FC have beaten Jamshedpur FC (2-1), Indian Air Force (4-0) while being held by FC Goa (2-2) and Mohammedan (1-1) in their final two group games. Both Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC will look to clinch their maiden Durand Cup title on Sunday.

Bengaluru FC will lock horns with Hyderabad FC in the second semi-final of the Durand Cup 2022 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday, September 15. The match will kick off at 6:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).

Under new manager Simon Grayson, Bengaluru FC pipped Odisha FC in a thrilling quarter-final encounter to advance to the last four of Asia’s oldest football tournament.

Fijian international Roy Krishna netted a 121st-minute winner to help Bengaluru FC secure a 2-1 win over a 10-man Odisha FC outfit at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan (KBK) on Saturday. After the match ended in a goalless draw in normal time, Shivashakti Narayan opened the scoring for the Blues in the 97th minute of the extra-time before Odisha FC forward Diego Mauricio equalised in the 115th minute of the game.

Earlier, Bengaluru FC finished second in the Group A standings with eight points from four matches, two points behind toppers Mohammedan Sporting to qualify for the quarter-finals.

BFC registered two wins and as many draws in their four group matches. While Simon Grayson’s men started the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Jamshedpur FC, they followed it up by thrashing Indian Air Force 4-0 in their second match of the tournament. The Sunil Chhetri-led side later drew against FC Goa (2-2) and Mohammedan (1-1) in their final two group games.

On the other hand, reigning Indian Super League (ISL) champions Hyderabad FC beat Rajasthan United 3-1 in their quarter-final clash to storm into the Durand Cup 2022 semi-finals.

Hyderabad FC star forward Bartholomew Ogbeche opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Uruguayan Martin Chavez converted a penalty to equalise for Rajasthan in the 29th minute. Later, Akash Mishra gave Hyderabad the lead followed by an important strike by Javier Siverio to guide the Nizams to a convincing 3-1 win.

Led by manager Manolo Márquez, Hyderabad FC earlier finished at the top of the Group C standings to secure their place in the quarter-finals. Having registered three wins and one defeat, Hyderabad FC ended the group stage with nine points from four matches, two points ahead of second-placed Chennaiyin FC. Hyderabad FC have defeated TRAU (2-0), Chennaiyin FC (3-1) and NEROCA (3-0) before being stunned by Army Red (0-1).
